Out with the old and in with the new....

That is my new motto for this year. I am clearing out a lot of negativity in my life. I recently read a post from my friend Tracy over at her blog The Prairie Patch. It was a very poignant post which opened my eyes to the other side of the prim community. You can read it HERE.  It is very disheartening to know that there are a lot of you who are so catty and mean.  And I hate to admit it but I too have felt the shunning from others in the prim community. Why? Aren't we all grown women. Doesn't the high school dramatics stop after you leave high school? I guess for most people they can not get past being bullies or "mean girls".  While your antics will not stop me from doing what I love, it will hinder me from participating in forums. I have removed myself from a few. I feel they are no longer a place of enjoyment.  I will just be doing my blogging and Etsy. I just can not surround myself with such negative people. I just want positive creativity and people to surround me in my life. I just wanted to get this off my chest and I thank you for taking the time to read. I hope you too can find peace and positive creativity in your life.

I had this happen to me several months ago and I also stopped blogging. I also stopped going to some forums and stopped following a lot of primitive blogs. I actually had a fellow blogger tell me that I was not a primitive blog and to stop pretending to be one. I never said I was a primitive blog...I just really love all kinds of country decorating...a little prim, a little country cottage, and a little old junk style.
It saddens me to hear that this is happening to others.

Gen,

It's important to just be yourself. I don't try to fit in and I told Tracy as much. Sorry this has happened to her and others. It's so sad.

It saddens me to read such things. Just because one does not conform to someones norm does not make one a bad person! I hate things like that

Right on, Gen!! I think that's why I made my post about it; it caused me too much negativity, so I had to extricate myself from the whole catty, negative, emotional vampire business.

I've had so many emails from people telling their horror stories about the dark side of the prim community and just as many people who have offered supportive comments on my post.

It still boggles my mind that some people seem to think I wrote my post because I didn't get enough comments on my blog or in forums. That wasn't my point at all! I felt like I wasn't writing English correctly, but there have been enough of you who have understood, and for that, muchas gracias. (LOLOL)!

Hugs,
Tracy

I too read Tracy's post and was very saddened by what I read Gen. Life is much too short to surround yourself with negativity and so I no longer participate in forums either. We are all talented and wonderful, each in our own ways, and if the narrow minded cannot see that, well, that is their loss. By the way, great to see you back again! Deb

You go Gen!!!! I agree some people just never out grow being mean bullies!!! :( For the life of me I can't understand why grown women act so childish!! But on the other hand there are some wonderful people in the primitive community and I treasure their friendships so I just ignore and stay away from as much drama as I can. So glad you are back!! Enjoy your weekend!! :)

Spring Blessings,
Dana

Well I for one would miss you if you didn't blog...just go ahead and do it for you and your reasons. There are lots of us out there that enjoy visiting all blogs, prim, mixed, country, whatever! I love prim but to have that exclusively would be ridiculous...I'd have to be rich! lol I'm more geared to "the eclectic eccentric" these days! ;)

I was visiting and reading your comments on negativity. Although I am new and just starting to revise my blog I have already noticed this trend. Thank you for expressing your thoughts so well. Good Luck and keep up your lovely work. Ellie

Gen, I wrote on Tracy's post. I really think it is foolish for these folks to consider them selves better than the everyday people here in blogland. I have never seen a definition of prim that includes what they are doing on their blogs and in their lives. Do any of them cook on a wood stove or over an open fire. Do they beat their clothes on a rock down by the river? I think not. Isn't primitive these days a state of mind? I am happy being a sweet, kind, gentle mix of prim, country, bargain/thrift, new/modern. I am 60 years old, still can every year for the long cold winter ahead, and try my best to make do with what we have or what I can find. There is little chance of me changing so I guess I am hoping to be accepted for who I am.
I think you just have to weed through all the blogs and find the ones you can connect with.
Those group things are just not for me. I like to live by my own rules! LOL

I have learned over the years that some women just don't ever grow up. They lived for drama in high school and they live for drama in their middle and old age. Those are the ones I distant myself from. There will always be negativity in some form around us, we much chose to ignore it as best we can.

I also got away from forums. Facebook is full of drama so I hardly ever go there anymore. I am like you, I will just stick to my blogging. If I ever come across someone that wants to be negative to me then I will simply delete them. My prim blog and the prim community is my sanity from my crazy, busy life and my family. I sure don't need drama queens and negative people bringing me down. That's just wrong and I sure don't understand why some people are that way.

I don't worry about if I am prim enough for others. I buy and collect what delights my heart and that's all that matters to me.

Sorry Gen that you have felt this way. Just do your best to distant yourself from that crap and move on. I hope you have a great week~
