You will never guess what I found at the Goodwill!!!!

Last weekend my husband, kids and I went on a drive around town before going to church. My husband noticed that they had opened a new Goodwill downtown. This one was pretty big.  And as any good husband would do, he asked if I wanted to stop in and take a peek. Well, of course I dragged everyone inside to take a look around. I wanted to see if they had any wool skirts or coats that I could possibly use for my crafts. Well, I did find one skirt. But I guess that is pretty good being that I am in Texas, mind you. But I also found a mail, key holder that I will be painting for my sister-in-law. She wanted one for her kitchen and asked me to paint her one with grapes and wine on it. It's a nice one, but thankfully my husband was with me because inside it was a dead black widow. It was big, gross, and dead. But gross. Really gross. Did I mention I am afraid of spiders. I just about ran out of the store. But after it was disposed of  I calmly walked around to see if there was anything else of interest and spider free.  My kids dragged me over to the toys section(Ugh, like we don't have enough already) to try to convince me into buying them a toy. But something caught my eye. A fabric foot was sticking out from under some teddy bears. I pulled it out and about squealed with delight. It was a prim raggedy ann doll. It was handmade and signed!!!! It still even had a card on it from the person who made it. Now, let me tell you it is extremely hard to find or even come by anything prim here in Texas. So, I grabbed it and made a b-line for my hubby. When I told him what I found he politely( insert sarcastic laugh) rolled his eyes at me and looked at me like I was crazy. But who cares. Do you want to know what I spent on it?

That's right .99!!!!! I couldn't believe it. Here is a picture of her.

 And here is a picture of the card that was pinned on her. I tried to find this woman's website. Or if she had a website. I can't find anything. I really love this doll and I was interested in finding out what other dolls she had to offer. I kinda feel bad in a way that I paid so little for such a lovely doll that was signed and hand stitched. It makes me wonder if the things I stitch and sell will one day find there way to a Goodwill store. Not that there is anything wrong with them. I love finding treasures at Goodwill or Salvation Army. It's just a little sad. Oh well, I just wanted to share with all of you my awesome find. I just couldn't keep it to myself!

I was featured in an Etsy Treasury!!!!

Well, today to my surprise after checking my email I found out my cinnamon star ornaments were featured in a treasury! How cool is that. I have never been featured for anything before in my life. So, this is a great accomplishment for me. I am so honored and delighted that someone thought so highly of one of my items to have them featured in their treasury. What I am busy working on...

Here is a little sneak peek at what I am working on right now. I think I have snowmen on the brain because that is all I seem to be producing. LOL. But I will list him in my Etsy shoppe when he is finished. He will be a made-to-order though. He is quite large. I didn't realize how big I made him till I placed him on my chair. But this snowman is of my own design. I think he came out ok. I'll probably tweak him around before I place him in my shoppe. But I will post pics when he is completly done.

And I also have been making some faux Christmas cakes. I needed one for my cupboard in my kitchen. So, after some trial and error I made one using Char's technique.  Plaster of  Paris is my new best friend! I like using it instead of using the salt dough for larger cakes like this one. It is much faster to get done with too, which is a plus for me. But for the cake texture that is a secret. Lol. I am going to save it for a tutorial later on. Don't worry I'll share.

I am actually thinking of melting some wax and pouring it over for some icing. It still looks unfinshed to me.

Well I guess I should be getting back to work. I still have laundry to do. And I have to clean the mess in the kitchen I made from making my crafts. But thanks for dropping by. And don't forget to head on over to Prim Pals and enter in on my giveaway!

I'm gettin' in on the display chain! This week is "peek-a-boo".

Well, I did it! LOL. I always love Misi's display chain and looking at everyone's wonderful displays. I never joined in because I was always a little self conscience about my arrangements. But today I took the plunge and will show you some of my places I like to hide things.

 This is my thermostat cover I asked my husband to modify for me. Orginally it was a key holder but I asked my husband to cut out the back. It was less expensive then buying one those covers.

This is my stepback cupboard in my kitchen. I usually hide my cook books and kids school supplies in here.

My youngest decided to model for you how he uses it. LOL.

Things are looking up.

Sorry I have been quiet lately. I haven't had much time to write. I have been busy. It seems my snowmen are a hit! Yay! I have recently sold one on Etsy and a few locally. I have relisted another one in my Etsy shoppe if anyone is interested. I am hoping to get more Christmas things up today. But we will see. Have to mail out a few other things today and do some errands. And hopefully get some more sewing in for the day. But I just wanted to drop in and write to you all to let you know I am still here. Hope you all have a great hump day. LOL.

Look What I Have Been Working On!!!

I have been working on these cute little guys for the past week. The snowmen are a Wooden Nail pattern. I just LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOve it! It is so simple and easy to make. I got it HERE if you are intereseted in purchasing one for yourself.  The mice I made were from a pattern I had from a Better Homes and Garden Christmas Ideas Mag. I think it was 08". Both were very easy to do. Well, I thought I would show you what I was up to. Now, I am off to make ornies for the Prim Pals first annual ornie swap. I am so excited!
